It’s Gotta be the Socks

Friday, October 31st, 2008

No secret here, Missoula has an amazing skatepark. Tony Hawk came through last year with his crew and tore it up for the grand opening. Thanks to all the hard work from the Montana Skatepark Association we’ve got something here that is world class for the skating community. Our friend Tom Robertson just sent us this picture of Jon Burrill gettin the ups. It’s gotta be the socks.

When Times are Tough

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Get on your bike and go. And in 1944 that’s exactly what Thelma Popp Jones and her friend Doris Roy did. Having dreamt about this adventure for years they finally made it happen. After college and before the “real world” they embarked on this amazing journey. With World War II taking over everyone’s hearts and minds these two hit the road on their single speeds. From Buffalo, New York to the Gulf of Mexico these gals were pedaling for 4 months, sleeping outside, and working as maids on a boat named Steamer Corregidor.

How’s this for the first two days expense:

June 22
miles – 32
8:30 Buffalo
12:00 Lake View (lunch)
5:30 Six miles from Silver Creek

Milk $0.15
Veal Chops $0.25
Prunes $0.16
Potatoes – free
4 eggs $0.23
6 slices of bacon
Lettuce $0.15
2 birch beers $0.10

Total $1.04 (Poppy pays first two days)

Read more about it here.

The times, they are shitty and i’m ready for a bike tour.

Rick’s Rig

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Yesterday I was on a photo shoot and our male model rolled up in this amazing bike. Turns out he has been restoring old Schwinns and installing 67cc two stroke engines on them. With a half gallon fuel tank these bikes get 100 miles to the gallon and can cruise at a top speed of 30 mph. With a locking clutch lever  you can ride like a normal bicycle or just “pop” the clutch and fire the engine. Complete bikes start at $600. Email him up if you are interested. Now all we need to do is get some couplings on there.

International Shipping

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Just wanted to thank everyone for the support and visits to the website. I hope we didn’t turn too many people away with the ridiculous international shipping charges. We had no idea UPS would be so unreasonable. We had one friend from Sweden tell us it would cost $115 to ship him a hat. WHAT??? Sorry about that. We’ve remedied the problem and now offer United States Postal Service for international shipping. Shipping a cap to Europe now could cost $25.00

Ciao Milan

Monday, October 20th, 2008

In the beginning of the summer we were contacted by a  Ms. Leonora Sartori at La Repubblica which apparently is like the New York Times in Milan. They do a magazine called D and wanted to run a little story on our bikes. Amazing. No problem. Hi-Rez IMAGES ok. FTP here we go.

Then the other day i get an email from a Mr. Luca Leonardi:

“Hi Guys,
this week you were in the weekly insert of Repubblica (the most sold newspaper in italy), Donna of Repubblica.
…..just a small problem….. they wrote your bike costs 24,500 €!!!!! …it sounded impossible to me, that’s why i doublechecked on your site…..just to let you know”

Can it get worse? Well yeah, they don’t even show our bike properly. Nice try.

Gitane

Friday, October 17th, 2008

My first fixed gear is an old Gitane road bike that I bought at a bike swap for $20.00. It’s lived in Montana and New York and it’s be stolen and stolen back and i love her dearly. With my bike at the moment flying around i’ve been on the Gitane a lot. And she’s dreamy.
