Tom Robertson grew up in the Deep South on a bicycle with a camera in his hand. In his adult life, after escaping the grasp of the commercial banking world, he moved to Missoula, Montana and worked in the bicycle industry as a cartographer for Adventure Cycling Association for 14 years, mapping over 40,000 miles of bike routes. Today he is a commercial photographer spending most of his days shooting cycling photographs, pedaling his bike and perfecting the perfect espresso shot.

Key West

December 24th, 2009 by Tom Robertson

While most of the country seems to be frozen, the climate in Key West is pretty tropical. A ride with touring bikes from West Palm Beach, through Miami to Key West for a few days. An amazing ferry ride to Ft. Myers Beach, and then back across Florida to the starting point. Not a bad way to spend a couple of weeks on the bike.

STAGES

December 8th, 2009 by Tom Robertson

Lance’s STAGES show was in Miami for Art Basel over the weekend. I was quite taken with Tom Sach’s piece…. That’s a helluva tool kit he has on the front of that Trek Madone!

More Portlandish-ness

November 30th, 2009 by Tom Robertson

Another bonus of traveling to Portland is getting to visit with some old, and new, friends. I haven’t known Ira Ryan that long, but he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve come across. I got to visit with him in his new shop and see some of those top quality bicycles that he makes. It really is quite something, and during the course of it all, I got so caught up in it, I think that I ended up saying I’d like to have one made for me. So be careful when visiting frame builders who make beautiful bikes…..it might end up being an expensive visit.

Portlandish

November 27th, 2009 by Tom Robertson

Making a trip over to Portland from Missoula is always a treat. All of the cycling related activities make the 8+ hour drive a little more tolerable. And I get to see my nieces, who seem to spend a lot of their days being carted around in Burley trailers…

Snowy roads led to sunshine for todays lunchtime business meeting. The one constant was Ben’s red Rapha hat.

Owen Gue of The Cycling House rides off into the sunset. Much like the season in Montana these days… Winter is coming.
